Splits and Caps Daily: Action for Agents
November 7, 2025
đ Market Move:
Merger Mania
Zillow just pulled a power move â it surveyed Anywhere agents (the folks soon-to-be under Compass CEO Robert Reffkin if that merger closes) â and the results? Brutal.
Hereâs the tea:
18% said theyâd definitely leave Anywhere if Compass takes over.
Another 35% said they might bounce.
23% think the merger would flat-out hurt their business.
And 70% said private/off-MLS listings (Compassâs bread and butter) arenât good for sellers.
This isnât just a data drop â itâs a PR grenade. Zillow and Compass are already locked in a legal cage match over listing rules, and this survey is Zillowâs way of saying: âAgents donât like your game, Reffkin.â
Meanwhile, CEOs at eXp and Real Brokerage are sitting on the sidelines like, âđ âŚweâll take your free agents, thanks.â
Bottom line: If Compass and Anywhere do merge, it might trigger a mini agent migration across the industry â and Zillow just made sure everyoneâs watching.

đ Fun Fact of the Day:
Presidential Project: đď¸ The White House was a fixer-upper. When John Adams moved in, it wasnât finished. The walls were damp, rooms unpainted, and the smell? Letâs just say ânew constructionâ wasnât a compliment back then.
